Our Flagship Range: With its unique pitted surface, handmade Spicer Tiles are ideal where the benefits of a new clay tiles is required but with the blessing of an aged appearance. The pitted finish has been designed to catch lichen to encourage weathering and to seamlessly blend into rural environments. A tile with character, perfectly suited for use on barn conversions or mixing in with second hand Kent Peg tiles.
Hanbury – Our handmade Hanbury tiles exhibit vibrant tones with subtle variation within each range. Ideal for new developments, yet not out of place on a traditional country manor.
Fittings – Spicer Fittings have been the choice for roofers for decades for their unique ability to blend seamlessly with reclaimed tiles. We produce fittings to match all of our ranges, both Spicer and Hanbury.
Spicer Tiles also produce handmade floor tiles.
How We Make Our Handmade Tiles
Each Spicer Tile is genuinely crafted by hands of skilled artisans. Gifting each tile with its own individual character and perfect imperfections, including the makers’ fingerprints. Each worker makes around 800 tiles per day. After the making process, the tiles then go into the drying room where they are dried to bring them to below 5% moisture. Once this process is complete, the tiles are ready for firing. The main benefit of crafting each tile by hand is the outstanding aesthetics that come along with it. It is our belief that uniformity in tiles doesn’t allow a roof to stand out as it should. After all, the roof is one of the main focal points when you first notice a property. Nothing makes a roof stand out from the crowd like a genuine handmade clay roof tile.
